Q1.
What
is the purpose of Candace Frazee's website?
A1.
To
share what she knows.
Q2.
What
can Candace do for me?
A2.
Candace
can answer any question you have about bunnies, angels,
the Swedish writer—Emanuel
Swedenborg (1688-1772), or life after death. If
she doesn't know the answer, Candace, with her deep sense
of curiosity, will find out what
you need to know and share it with you, either in one
of her newsletters, or privately via mail or
phone.
Q3.
Why
does Candace always dress in red?
A3.
It
is universally understood that red corresponds to love.
Red is the colour of blood. Swedenborg
wrote that blood corresponds to all spiritual things—all
things relating to truth or
wisdom.
Candace,
a struggling actress in Toronto, Canada in the 80s, repeatedly
wore a red designer outfit by "Darlene B" to
celebrity functions. Whenever she wore
it, people would look twice. On the bus one day, some
guy yelled, "Hey, lady in red! You
look good!" (Yes, Candace
took the bus to a celebrity party in designer duds!)
This was
before Chris de Burgh's song "Lady in Red" came
out!
As
an actress, Candace knew that if she was noticed more
in red, that would be advantageous
to her career. However, red was not a colour she favoured
in her wardrobe prior
to the "Darlene B" outfit. So, she experimented
with red. She bought a red sweater. Whenever
she wore it, people would stare at her. She bought
a red top. Again the
looks. So,
Candace decided to wear red more and more. Whenever
she was in red, people
paid more
attention to her and when she wasn't, they didn't. Since
then, Candace has predominately
worn red clothes.
It's her trademark.
Candace
has tried to understand what it is about the colour
red that excites others about her
when she is cloaked in it. She surmises that the colour
red is a reflection of who she is. Candace
is the attributes of red—warm, loving, fiery,
passionate, outstanding,
and hot!
Q4.
What
makes Candace an Emanuel Swedenborg expert?
A4.
Candace
has no degrees. Her Swedenborgian education is from life
experience, born into
a Swedenborgian
family in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. She is a voracious
reader. She attended
1-year at Bryn Athyn College—a Swedenborgian establishment—in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania
which is a Swedenborgian community outside Philadelphia (formed
in 1890).
Candace
has been "officially" helping people to understand
Swedenborg (by answering their written
questions through her newsletter, SILA) since 1988
when she co-hosted a big bash for
Swedenborg's 300th birthday in Glendale, California
at the Theodore Roosevelt High School
with Rev. Cedric King of El Toro, CA. After this splashy
Tricentenary event, individuals
wrote Candace letters asking her details about Swedenborg's
life. At first she answered
all the mail personally, but then, thinking that others
could benefit from the answers,
started a monthly newsletter, "Swedenborg Information
of Los Angeles".
Candace
is a popular Swedenborgian expert for she writes SHORT
commonsensical answers to
complicated questions. Swedenborgians are not known
for their brevity. Swedenborg himself
was long winded—he often wrote he didn't have
enough pages to explain what he had
to, and then he spent books trying!
Candace's
avocation as a Swedenborg expert is to make Swedenborg
understood by the masses
and not just the scholars. She is not credentialed,
but nonetheless, she is knowledgeable
about a man most no little about.
Her
goal is make Emanuel Swedenborg a household name.
Candace's
principal contribution to the Swedenborg
Movement has been in spreading Swedenborg's
words beyond the converted. |
